GROWING: We are pleased to report that NORTHERN MICHIGAN PATENT LAW, PLC (NMPL) has become an “Of Counsel” associate of MITCHELL IP LAW. NMPL’s founder is attorney Jason Young, Esq, BSE Engineering, University of Michigan; Juris Doctor of Law, Detroit College of Law (now Michigan State University College of Law). He is a registered patent attorney specializing in patent prosecution, patent searching, and patentability assessment of new inventions, primarily in the mechanical arts, with nearly 30 years of experience including patent infringement evaluations, patent litigation, patent interferences, trademark and copyright prosecution and international Patent Cooperation Treaty practice.
After practicing patent, trademark, and copyright law for a number of years as a shareholder in a large Detroit area intellectual property law firm, he founded NMPL in Traverse City, helping inventors and businesses navigate the critical early phases of patent protection, and guiding them efficiently through the patent process, with a focus on patent searching and patent prosecution before the U.S. Patent Office.
Jason Young is admitted to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office; the United States Court of Appeals; Sixth Circuit; the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan; and the Courts of the State of Michigan.
NMPL will be joining Bruce Kanuch, Esq who continues “Of Counsel” to the firm, James A. Mitchell, who continues to lead the firm, and Sue VanHolstyn with over 30 years of experience, continues as “executive officer” par excellent. With NMPL’s addition, we now have offices in Grand Rapids, Midland, and the Traverse City area.
